In UBC Campus for Christ, the women are quite dispersed...while the guys have close fellowship, the girls tend to lead rather separate lives. Esther, the women's ministry coordinator (and amazingly funny individual) and I decided that we want to remedy this this year. So, we held a girls social.
Last friday, about 6 girls came over for butter chicken and laughs at my house. Later, a bunch more came and enjoyed nanaimo bars, pumpkin pie and time together. We played a game which was supposed to be two truths and a lie, but evolved into 3 girls telling a story about one statement and us guessing which girl was telling a true story...it was so much fun! The night ended with Anoshka, Esther's friend from Kenya, teaching us how to belly dance and Julie, my roommate, and I doing bhangra moves we learned at our Indian dancing lessons (not the most graceful sight)...Not only was it a really hilarious evening, but it felt like the beginning of closer relationships. And Anoshka even promised to teach us a routine next time!
