A Bhuddist seeking answers...

This story was sent to me by Michelle, a student in our movement with whom I meet up weekly to pray and teach her about faith and how to share it!


"The girls from our floor, T (a buddhist) got a hold of the fantasy book from her roomate J whom I befriended since first term. We invited her to join our bible study this week and she had many very important questions about Christianity. Our one hour study turned into 3 hours! Her understanding of sin currently is that God makes it very black and white in the 10 commandments and like other religions, it makes up rules, rather like Buddhism, whicch she considers a lifestyle of good works and karma. She just learned from last study that sex outside of marriage was a sin and so was getting drunk. For her, the surfacy command of "do's" and "don't do's" lead to rejection of not knowing "why" and "why not" we can't live the way we want to but are we submitting to some manmade religion, a God of our own comfort and self-gratification? For most of us, we needed to think in our own hearts why we desire to obey God and it all goes back to the gospel, how Christ saves us, works in us, and through us, which will require some more patience to understand and express! It is exciting to see Jenny's desire share the saving message of Jesus to her friend. We hope that as we continue to meet up, we would have a better understanding of the gospel, having a relationship with Christ (vs. religion and rules) and how we can share it for serious seekers like T! We are planing to make a separate meeting outside bible study to pray, talk through and train our sisters to know, cherish and guard the gospel by being able to face these tough questions! Please pray that God would fill us with wisdom, power and love for the gospel and for the lost."
